Have just found out that if I turn off the aerial amplifier which is in the loft the picture quality increases greatly but of course I don't get TV channels. This is not a problem because I can watch Sky instead. I live in a poor tv reception area, hence the amp.

Re: Connecting a non B&O TV update.

David,

Whilst link frequency can be a problem with co-channel interference, that does not normally give a grainy picture.

Your problem is more likely to be poor coax termination meaning poor 75 ohm impedance matching either due to low quality cable and/or bad plug termination, sharp bends in the coax cable and/or very long runs (greater than 30 metres)

You may wish to purchase from B&O their RF distribution amplifier which uses "F" connectors which allow for perfect impedance matching and are designed for the B&O link system. There is two versions Type 4052 which is the standard version and Type 4053 with return path intended for STB's which have return communications for example for pay-per-view type applications.

Re: Connecting a non B&O TV update.

Thanks for the info Justin.I will take a look in the Avant reference book and try it.Cheers.

Re: Connecting a non B&O TV update.

I had poor linked picture quality on my BV6 (linked to a BV3 master). It was solved by my dealer changing the link frequency..... (don't ask me for details - but presumably the frequency the link signal is broadcast can be affected by interferance)

Connecting a non B&O TV update.

Thought I would let you know how I got on with the Non B&O TV.

Well I purchased a 42" Pioneer 427XD plasma screen and wall mounted it below my Beolab 3500. I followed Keiths instructions and everything works very well.

I can control the TV with the Beo4 and access DVD and Sky+ with the Beo4. I have also purchased a second Sky box which is HD just for the Pioneer TV. The picture is amazing in HD, even better than my trusty Avant dvd in the main room.

I'm thinking now that I won't bother with the new BV7 I shall keep the Pioneer plasma and put the money saved into a used BV4 or BV9 for the main room so I can have HD all round the house.

One thing that I am having problems with is the linked picture quality. My BV1 and BV6 which are linked to the Avant have always had a slightly grainy picture but I have learnt to live with it. Now the Pioneer plasma is linked up this too has the same grainy picture but it's alot more noticable. There is a signal amp behind the Avant and another in the bedroom with the BV1 but I think they are masking the problem.

Any ideas?
