Why not remove the casing of a DVD 1 and, if it fits, place over another make of player?

I have DVD 1 and another Sony combined home cinema/amp/player. I removed the outer casing from my broken V8000 video recorder and it fits over the Sony perfectly. Result? 2 units, both 'B&O', one above the other and which appear almost identical.

Cheap but effective!

We purchased one new, years ago. It was a later model, and quite expensive. It gave us an excellent picture, looked great of course, and control via our Beo 4.

One year into operation, the luster and excitement wore off, and it required the first of ultimately many, many repairs. Eventually, it went back into it's carton, and remains there today. In retrospect, if it had a 10 year warranty ( I'm dreaming of course ) it might have been worth the initial expense.

DVD players today, with features the DVD-1 does not have ( Actual Multi-region, HDMI, HD-capability ), at 30 Euro, or $ 65. USD, perhaps justify the heavy burden of one additional remote control sitting on the coffee table.

I got one for free 3 years ago, as it was broke. Got it fixed for app. 350 euro and 2 years and 3 month later it broke again. This time B&O fixed it for free. It is a 2001 model. I dont know if 2 breakdowns within 8 years is much for a DVD player, but thats my story about the DVD1.

Early models are prone to failure these days.

Later models slightly better but expensive to fix if they do fail.

Should be cheap because of the above. Don't even think about getting them fixed. Best to just throw it away and put it down to experience. Just my opinion!

Better still, buy a £20 DVD player from the internet or your local supermarket!
