Ah now that I had never thought of! I've only ever tried to recone two (identical) drivers and failed - they worked, but sounded poor and sounded very strange off-axis (huge mid-spike, all other mids disappeared ).

My attempted repairs were as succesful as yours. I bought new drivers!

Very easily sorted with a 1.5 volt battery

I would personally just order new drivers. While the re-cone may be cheaper, IMO it's not worth the hassle. It can affect the sound in a negative way too, unless you can get the driver absolutely perfectly aligned.

These can be refoamed by you if you buy the parts, its fairly straightforward.

You could als give Wembley Loudspeaker a call, they've done a couple of jobs for me, both which were pretty awkward to do, but they made a good of of them.

I bought a set of drivers for my CX50's from my dealer last month for £25 each. It is a five minute per speaker easy soldering job to change them even if (like me) you have very basic skills with a soldering iron. I suspect recone would charge more than that to refoam them them as refoaming is quite labour-intensive.

The last time I contacted Recone was about 2 months ago and they were not taking on any more repairs until further notice. You would be advised to phone them.

New drivers are still available from B&O and cost around £25 each or foam rings are available on eBay for DIY repairs.

Has anyone had B&O speakers repaired by the company in huddersfield called Recone , i have a pair of passive cx 50's in need of repair and was wondering what kind of service they provided .
