I have replaced the belts on my Beocord 7000. Fellow Beoworlder Dillen has kindly supplied me the belts and the information on how to fit them properly. I will PM you with more details on how this is done. For some reason my Beocord 7000 still doesn't work. It's been sitting here for far too long now, and it's time I had a look at it to get i working again.

There are two versions of the Beocord 7000 and they have different belts. Again something I learned from Dillen.

I am trying to replace the belt on my Becord 6500. Its the wide belt.....I can't figure out at all how to put it on. The thin ones are easy, just the wide belt. If anyone can help me, I'd be very appreciative.

I also want to change the belts on my Beocord 7000.

Do you know what dimensions of the belts are (or are the old ones the same size as when they were new?)

Where can you buy the new belts?

Andy is correct - the Beocord 6500/7000 is a different beast to the 5500 despite looking externally very siimilar. The 5500 has three motors, the 6500 just one. Have a look at Beocentral for a good description. Not much difference in performance though!

Hi Jan.
I am sure Puncher meant Beocord 5500, and although it looks identical to the Beocord 7000 regarding the buttons and the enclosure, there are visible differences in the cassette loading tray.
I guess therefore, that they are two different animals.

The Beocord 5500 only shows circuit diagrams, no mechanical parts.

There is for the BC5500 - is that different, I'm not sure it is!

Worked for my 6500 - although I think it wasn't much help in the actual belt replacement. I just dismantled the mechanism enough to remove the old completely stretched out belt and replace it with a new one. Will be a little bit difficult if the old belt has dropped out and there's no reference I seem to recall there was one not so obvious gadget that had to be removed to get the belt in the right route...

I will probably do this again with a BC7000 in very near future, I'll take pictures if the problem is still relevant then.
