I'll try this and give you the results.

The drawing you added is exactly my setup. Other repliers argued about the possibility of my setup.

I hope it's not broken, then I have to get a new one, because a broken MCL 2 AV makes the MCL 2 P worthless.

I'm pretty shure it works with a fully wired PL cable, no need for a special one!

Connect the MCL2AV to a Beomasters SPEAKER2 output, then check the following voltages in the MCL2AV:

- on the MCL cable white wire you should read approx. 5V (data from Beomaster)
- on the MCL cable pink wire you should read approx. 8V (supply from Beomaster)

- at DC IN (from MCL2P) you should have approx. 15V

If the transceiver LED is still not lit disconnect it and check if you have 5V (where the green wire was connected)

If there's no 5V check the output voltage of both voltage regulators near DC IN socket.
You should read 12V on the first and 5V on the second one.

If there's 12V but no 5V your MCL2AV is probably broken.

MCL2P is meant as a linkroom amplifier. It can not activated by powerlink. powerlink sends a signal (5V) on PIN4 to start a speaker, the MCL2P amplifier needs a signal on PIN1. Usually an MCL2P is activated by an MCL2A connected to the speakers sockets (they are the same as SPEAKER 2 out of a Beomaster). MCL2P will activate the Beomaster/Beosound connected via Powerlink. Possible setups:

- Beomaster - MCL2AV - Beolab (or MCL2P with special PL cable, but no speaker-on delay)

- Beomaster - Powerlink - MCL2P - MCL2a(s) - passive speakers

Doesn`t your MCL2AV work at all? I remember when I connected an MCL2A to an old BM3300 everything worked fine but not the LEDs on the IR transceiver....

I don't see why the transceiver doesn't work depending on the powerlink cable.

As far as I know, MK II is only for data to beolab speakers?

What is this special PL cable? If have a MkIII powerlink cable connected.

You need PowerLink mkII, also known as fully wired.

Sorry, I don`t know what you mean by "the green lead that gives power...".

I don`t think you will get the MCL2P activated by an MCL2AV. You will need a special PL cable with PIN 1 and 4 bridged.

Setup should be: BM5550 -> SPEAKER2 out -> MCL wire -> MCL2AV ( -> IR Transceiver) -> Beolab speaker

MCL2P has an LED which is red in standby and green when activated....(??)

Setup is cables from beomaster 5500 to the MCL 2 AV. Then powerlink to MCL 2 P.

Transceiver is connected. I don't see an LED at all. The green lead that gives power to the transceiver doesn't give any current.

Can you describe how you set it up? Cables, Beomaster....?

If you have a BL 1000 press LINK - 2 - STORE. Does the LED react?

Does the MCL2P you connected the MCL to work?

I understand what you're saying. That is exactly the way I connected it.

The MCL2AV gets its power from the MCL 2 P, but I don't get a standby light on the transceiver
