The amplifier in the 2200 unfortunately has built in loudness so the sound can be a bit boomy in the bass department. I would suggest RLs on stands would make a very nice combination. The S45-2s could be a little too revealing for the 2200 in my view. I am afraid I share Chris' opinion of X25s!

Re: beocentre 2200 speaker upgrade

In that case I would simply cut the leads off the X25's & use those. The X25's are truly the worst speakers ever made by B&O and it would probably cost you more to buy speaker cables than the speakers themselves are worth.

Just my opinion of X25's of course but I doubt if there will be many on here who would disagree with me

The centre came with the x25's. The speaker connections on the system are 2 pin DIN. These terminate inside the existing speakers.

Re: beocentre 2200 speaker upgrade

Redlines actually work very well with the BC2200 and are a good cosmetic match.

You should look for the later versions such as the RL45.2 or RL60.2's as these won't have foam rot or disintegrated ABR's. The amp in the 2200 isn't the best in the world so anything bigger would be a bit of a waste.

Oh BTW - the redlines have spring terminals so it isn't necessary to fit DIN plugs to connect them. Use your existing wires & bare the ends (I'm assuming the Beocenter came with beovox X25's? - horrible things).

What are the speakers that came woth the Beocenter?

As far as I know your existing speaker cables should work fine with the redlines.

Almost any of the range (except possibly the RL35) would meet your needs. Some models suffer from foam rot in the woofers, but age/condition and price aree as imoortant as the specific model. Bear in mind some versions of the redlines are huge, so look up the measurements before you buuy, or give your wife plenty of warning!

You should also consider the S45-2 as this will probably be a step up from what you have now and they can usually be found quite cheaply.

I recently bought a Beocenter 2200 of ebay and was hoping to upgrade the speakers. I was hoping to buy some B&o red line speakers. Is this possible and if so which model should i buy. Also how easy is it to fit DIN fittings to the red line speakers. All help is much appreciated. Thanks
