im so confused right now. whilst appreciating the responses, im not completing understanding them. The BeoLab 3500 is an active speakers and am i therefore right in saying i need to use it in conjuction with a BeoLink Active. If so what is this? Is there no simple connection from the tv or beosound 9000 that will allow me to run a cable between the two.

Sorry :)

A case of too much information perhaps.

If at all possible I would use the B&O Master Link Distributor box that Elephant mentioned. There is another hardwired ML junction box that requires manual cutting and splicing of cables but I've really liked the ease of the "plug and play" ML Distributer box when making adjustments and changes to setups.

It seemed a little overkill to get the distributor box when I only had two units, but trust me, it fills up fast when you begin to add Link Rooms,TVs, etc.

I know that the B&O wireless system is very robust but I think it's usually better to hardware if possible.

As Alex noted you'll probably want a BeoLink box for your additional speaker rooms/locations. The BeoLink Passive is for traditional non-amplified speakers and the BeoLink Active is specifically for B&O active speakers.

The advantage is that these boxes are designed to function as an independent audio system that utilize sources through the Master Link network. They have their own sound settings and adjustments independently from the other sources and are controlled solely through an IR Eye either manually (Via the on/off,Volume, timer switches on the IR Eye) or through via a remote while the box remains hidden away. We've got one in a Bedroom and Kitchen and it's very practical having them function independent of the Main audio system.

B&W makes weatherproof speakers, which are very good indeed. The BeoLink Passive (amplifier) which powers them would sit somewhere indoors, and the link-eye would sit in a weatherproof box out with the speakers...

Re: A certain setup

Take this Elephant:-

My recently played tracks:-

Don't Jump off the Roof Dad - Tommy Cooper
Combine Harvester - The Wurzels
Ernie - Benny Hill
Grandad - Clive Dunn
Floral Dance - Terry Wogan

And for some classical:-

Save your Love - Renne & Renata

Re: A certain setup

I have two solutions implemented for this in my house.

I have a B&O Master Link Distributor box, and I have B&O Wireless.

You can buy the B&O ML Distributor from your dealer - it is small (8.5cm x 14 cm x 2.5 cm [without cables, plus]), black and made of plastic - it is meant to be hidden away, and requires no power.

The B&O ML Distribuor has the following ML ports:

- Audio

- Video

- Link 1

- Link 2

- Link 3

- Link 4

My ML Distributor box takes my Beosound 4 ML cable and connects it to my Beoport ML and also to my B&O Wireless Trasnmitter by ML ... it could also connect to B&O Active controllers via ML or to a B&O TV via ML when I get one.

My B&O Wireless Transmitter sends signals to 3 B&O Wireless Receivers - each drives my speakers: BL 6000, BL 3, BL4.

Note the B&O Wireless units are switchable between Transmitter and Receiver.

The B&O Wireless unit is approximately the same cost as a B&O Active unit - it has (imho) a lower quality sound (and in my house gets zapped by the microwave) but it gives me flexibility on where I position the speakers and I don't have to worry about where I run my cables.

For my outdoor music I open one of two doors and crank up the volume on the BL 3s or the BL 4s ... or I could pick up the Wireless Receiver and its BL 4s and take them outside (I have an all weather power socket by the BBQ).

A certain setup

Hi guys;

Just wondering, i have my BV7-40 connected to my BeoSound 9000, together they share a few different BeoLab speakers, now i was hoping to connect a few other speakers around the house to allow for music around the house. How would i go about this. Im hoping to put BeoLab 1's outside, that way i can play cd's and what have you outside. Are they connected via masterlink or something else? My concern is because if i want to connect them and other speakers in another room how do i connect it all because there is only one master link connection. I was hoping to also a BeoLab 3500 in another room how would i connect all this. So certain rooms can choose to play their own music or the same music can be played throughout.

Thanks in advance
