it has the newest LED panel in it. Like the ipod only one knob ,but no remote

I think there is no doubt in anyone's mind that LED is better than Fluorescent and here to stay. Thinner, less power consumption, brighter, longer life... It is still being refined, with some panel, the LEDSs are turned off and on to display really dark blacks. In even newer panel, they can even change the color of the LEDs to display a greater color contrast.

You mean like the BV7-40 MKIV which has only just come out? You can't release a high-end TV without improved backlit LED lighting and then release a mid-range TV with a LED backlit screen. Can you imagine trying to explain that to your customers? ie. the mid-range is better than your top-of-the-range TV?

That's why the BV7-55 is rumoured to be the first B&O TV with a backlit LED screen. It's above the BV7-40, so the improved picture can be justified due to the more expensive RRP etc etc.

Yes, there's hope it might be LED backlit. However, as the BV10 is supposed to be based on the existing BV8-40 technology, there's a strong liklihood it won't be LED backlit (in the same way the BV7-40 isn't). I heard the first LED backlit B&O TV will be the BV7-55, which is also out later this year.

I'm not sure if B&O can strategically release a 'better' mid-range 40" TV over and above their BV7-40 MKIV, either.

From what I gathered over half-an-hour's research, there are two categories of "LED" screens - 1) a conventional LCD but using LED's as a lighting source rather than fluorescent lamps, and 2) an actual LED screen made up of individually lighted pixels, as in Sony's OLED TV.

The first category can be done in two ways - 1) by placing LED's across the entire back of the display, usually about 1000 of them, or 2) by placing them just on the perimeter, creating what's called an "edge-lit" display. The former is more expensive but is regarded to be better, and Samsung just happens to have both types on the market!

46" Back-lit

40" Edge-lit

Either would be a big improvement over our current fluorescent-lamp-based LCD's. OLED as we all know is still several years away, so here's hoping (no, DEMANDING!) that B&O will use one of these for the BV 10.

If its supposed to be 6cm thick, about 2 inches, then there is hope it might be LED based screen. There is hope since obviously they are in bed with samsung. Just speculating and hoping here .......

Is there anyone who can tell more about this new lcd.

All we know is that it's based on the BV8-40 chassis (and one would guess the same LCD panel) with two HDMI inputs, it has a BV5-style aluminium surround (ie not curved) and is quite thin (so should be fairly flush against the wall, unlike a BV4). Someone said it's going to have it's own speakers, but it's unclear of the design of those speakers.

Q4 release.

I'm sure when someone knows more, they'll post the info. However, I guess you can 'draw' the design in your own head?
