He played very locally a few years ago, and although I didn't go to the performance, a friend told me it was very, very good indeed.

Re: BeoLab 5 Loudspeakers in concert!

It would be great if some of our US-members in the Boston area could give us a review after the concert!
Martin Simpson who played played via Lab 5's in our store, uses state of the art pre-amps, and bespoke Sobell guitars made by a master luthier in Northumberland, so the speakers had the very best signal going in.

Martin described the sound as the best he had played through - "like being in a warm bath of sound" He is the real deal, and it was nice to get his feedback ( ! ) about the speakers.

Anyone who doesn't know Martin s work - look here -

Aside from being a stunning player, and very nice chap - his recordings are very well done, and sound fine through any Beolab speaker.

Whole bunch of other stuff here ..

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=6271823325EF8749

And, on a related note, Martin plays a Chris wood song live in one of those clips, and Chris will, hopefully, be our next in-store artist, in the late summer, also via Lab 5's

Anyone who plays guitar watch this clip - you will either be isnpired, or just give up and go and stamp on your own guitar because its obviously faulty

On Wednesday, May 20, 2009, the Fauxharmonic Orchestra will perform the first-ever live concert of a Beethoven symphony by a digital orchestra at Holy Name Church in Boston. The Fauxharmonic Orchestra, founded by conductor and composer Paul Henry Smith, sets out to convince audiences that a digital orchestra can deliver a satisfying concert experience. This concert is the first in the Beethoven Digital Symphonies Series.
Wednesday, May 20 at 8 p.m.
Holy Name Church
1689 Centre Street, West Roxbury, MA 02132

On May 20, the Fauxharmonic will test its limits with Beethoven’s Symphony Number 1 opus 21 and Brahms’ Hungarian Dance Number 5. The Fauxharmonic will also accompany two live soloists: Mezzo soprano, Tynan Davis, who will premiere Two Arias from Iphigenia at Aulis by Tom Myron, and violist Noralee Walker, who will perform Trauermusik for viola and strings by Paul Hindemith.

The Fauxharmonic performs live digital orchestral music by incorporating real-time performance control into carefully crafted digital renditions, built using Vienna Symphonic Library orchestral samples and Apple Logic Pro. In order to adjust the performance to the hall and to accompany live performers, the Fauxharmonic's conductor uses Nintendo Wii video-game controllers to change tempo, loudness, balance, timbre, and brightness – the elements musicians typically control during a live performance. The Fauxharmonic Orchestra’s sound emerges from an array of Bang & Olufsen’s BeoLab 5 speakers, a state of the art sound system that was designed to perform as a musical instrument.
