I liked this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GAPAvev-os because the dolby (?) sound quality allows me to more clearly hear her accent - but http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYqYYnxhtgo is far more emotionally evocative - for me it portrays what this song means for me.

Songs (especially with decent lyrics) are always evocative - for me "The Day Before ..." and "Children of Coincidence" (http://www.jr.com/product/music/pm/_988114/) and "Breathless" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgiBZ037Nsg) have a special meaning.

"The Winner Takes It All" is the flip side of that coin .........

About 500 or so CDs, about 50 LPs and about 20 songs downloaded...

Can't quite get used to not having a tangiable album, I like the cover art and booklets that you don't get (properly) on downloaded music.

Ah, Peter, but you would miss out on the ritual! My only real regret in my life was getting rid of my record collection in the late 80s. To redress that, I have just bought my first vinyl record in 20 years. All I need now is the Beogram - I have found a very nice, fairly local BG 1700 I am trying to buy!

I would guess about 2-300 Cd's another 50 or so LP's about 8000 songs on iTunes and maybe around 5 or 6 cassettes.

I drift back and forth between iTunes and playing Cd's and records. Lately I have been restoring a bunch of old vinyl. Mostly stuff from the 50's and early 60's.

I am amazed at how well some of the early sterophonic recordings from the early 50's actually sound. Somehow I expected a lessor sound quality but in fact some of the hi-fi vinyl I have from back in the early 50's is on par with anything being currently recorded.

This reminds me of series of letters in the 'Gramophone' magazine many years ago when someone was questioning the wisdom of having large record collections.

They pointed out that, for someone like me with 1200 CDs, and assuming that I play 5 CDs a day 5 days a week, it would take me a year to listen to my entire collection just once!. Some people wrote letters (remember them?) saying they had record collections in excess of 5,000 LPs. Do the math!

I have over 300 cd's (last count was some time last year and I only bought 5 cd's since)

About 50 vinyl records and no downloaded mp3's

Though I did rip a couple of our favorite cd's to lossless for my wife's ipod.

You do realize that's very naughty if you ask the relevant organizations, don't you?

I haven't sold a single record in my life. Some have been lent and never came back, though... I think I have around 250 CD's and about 100 vinyls, and it can go weeks that I don't listen to any of them, I mostly listen to radio. I think my digital audio is limited to ten or so mp3s...
