Hi Jens.
In UK, analog signals received by an aerial are being phased out, and soon the only way you will be able to watch TV is either by Sky (sattelite) or by a digital terrestrial signal.
Since many older TVs can't receive digital signals, a seperate device is needed to receive them. They commonly appear as a small box which can be kept on top of your TV.
A STB-C means you can control the box with your Beo4.

Frog, I totally agree but slowly, these sattelites are getting less and less, meanwhile Sky is getting bigger and bigger.
I would have liked to keep two dishes on the side of my house, but my late wife was having none of it. Still kept the telly and the dish controller though.

The sat module has its uses... it can pick up French analog TV on Atlantic Bird. TF1, France 2, France 3 etc...

The STB-C controlls set top boxes, -OK! But what is a set top box? ( not exactly in my english vocabulary...)

And how do I know if I got one? Is it a separete box?

It sounds very much like your telly has THIS Beosat LM built in. I don't think any of these sockets are going to be any use to you as they are from the good old days of satelite before Sky. I have a LX Tv in the loft that used to be my main telly. You could move your sattelite dish with this module but it is only usable for analog sat signals.
I used to spend loads of time tracking new sattelites and picking up news feeds before they were edited for the public. (Kate Adie in the Falklands telling people to **** off etc.)
Great fun in it's day but virtually useless today

Sounds like you have the Satellite decoder built in! The STB-C requires a software update and is used to control external set top boxes.

I love my AV9000 too!

Hmpff, whatdoes that STB-C gadget do? And how do I know if I have one? Is it possible to se on the connectors?

I have so many connectors on the back of the television that I have no Idea what they are. Seems to be prepared for satelite dish control.

What are these connectors for?

1.out door control?

2. actuator control?

3. mac decrypt?

4. audio decoder?

5. video decoder?

6. Y/C output?

Just to mention a few I love this telivision, gives me a feeling that there will be more interesting features to explore!

Same part number though the actual fitting instructions differ very slightly. I'll put in under service manual on the AV9000.

Is it possible to use a PIP-module from a MX6000 in a AV9000 telivision?

The AV9000 is as I understand a MX6000 under the beatifull shell.

The AV 9000 is an ealy version with 2-way communication.I am not sure about the MX6000.

Is this a "plug and play" installation or do I need some software update? Or is it impossible
