I have taken my BM 5500 apart to do the mod and it does not have the

four 220nf caps on it. The model is 2332 it also has a beolink sticker

on the back.

I have given your question some thought there is saftey measure built in

that would prevent the amp from serious over heating and just cut out.

Won't you face a serious risk of self-oscillation in the amplifier if you remove the feedback caps ?
It's quite common to see unstable DC-coupled amplifiers like this one go into self-oscillation at
full power, typically at a high (inaudible) frequency, 100KHz or so, overrunning the amplifier without
anyone knowing about it until it dies in smoke and flames.

The caps were not present on the early versions but were introduced later on - for a reason.
As I see it, they also add an amount of soft-clipping which will help protect your tweeters in
case of distortion.

Well I found the mod in the workshop so I have done it and it works

thats all I can tell you and I'm over the moon with it. Theres sounds now coming from

my speakers that I never heard before.

If there's anyone in the Herts area PM me and you can listen and examine my amp at my

house and report back I'm giving you an open invitation

I think the reason is explained on Beocentral Andy (I'm too knackered to find out for myself - busy week and all that).

Either way the Beomaster 7000 is to all intents & purposes an upgraded 5500.

Hi Peter

Sorry I can not take a photo as it's now back in use.

They are square and white, you will find them under the plastic cover where the fan is.

Undo the top board and lift it back and you will see the plastic covering, gently lift the two

battery like things and remove the one screw from the plastic cover and if you have the back facing you

in the left hand corner there's a clip what locks it to the board gently move over and lift it, then on the right on the front side

of the cover there another clip do the same to that and then you can lift the cover out of the way.

I then removed them from the top of the board by rocking them back and forth until they broke off. the numbers again

are C 215 C216 C415 and C416 they are easys to find just look for the numbers and as I said the sound is so much better.

Over the weekend I'm going to do the same with my 5500

If you are unsure I'll take it apart again and take a photo but it's really not difficult.

It's like having a new system.

I have now tested it and it has improved the sound by giving it more depth

it does not alter the volume level but the sound has improved ten fold.

I read about the mod and I have finally found the 4 capacitors that it said to remove,

have now removed them and will test sound in the morning and I will let you know

My 7000 goes higher than my 5500. I usually have to set my 7000 around 10 higher than my 5500 to get the same volume and I'm sure this is how they were designed. When both are maxed out the output is pretty comparable.
