Well that's a toughy, am currently either:

a) waiting for a late model BV5 (HD read) to come along, which is rarer in NZ than hens teeth

b) I'll hang on a little and see what the BV10 is like.

For the time being am more than happy with my Avant RF DVD the MX7000 and AV9000, however I do know what you mean on the HD front. I'm more thinking of HD for transmissions rather than discs. As you can read on here, and see in the stores, there's still not that much about on blueray so am not worried about that format.

Indeed.

I switched recently from Avant RF DVD/BS3200 to BV5 mk4/BC2 DVD.

After having several avant's from 1995, I wanted also something else.

And behind the BV5 you can hide a lot of stuff.

I am in the same boat as you!

I think that the avant will be a hard thing to better but the need for a hd picture is looming and I want to be sure to be totally happy with my upgrade

I am struggling to understand why you are looking to replce the Avant at all if you are still so happy with it!

My Avant DVD is still working perfectly, and still sounds and looks good.

I've been thinking about what shall replace it. The obvious choice is the BV7, but frankly I like the design of the Avant better. You can hide all cables etc witout any problems behind an Avant.

I've always liked the looks of the BV5, so the BV10 sounds very interesting indeed. But one of the things I love about the Avant is that everything is built-in. I don't want an ugly BD player from another manufacturer. I don't have a problem with different HDD and satelite tuners because you can completely hide them away somewhere. You can't do that with something you need to touch all the time. You still need to physically change the disc when you shall watch another movie.

How do the rest of you solve this? I guess the problem isn't that big yet because most of the BV5/9 probably have the BC2 for DVDs.
