I have a MK3 beosound9000 that doesn't get enough use to warrent keeping.. I'm not desperate for the cash right now but it would help alot.. My question is:

I was recently offered £1200 for the beosound9000, remote and floorstand. I bought the lot for £1500 in 2004 so i would make a loss of £300 which is a little annoying.

Being a recession, people have less cash so I understand why the price is lower, but would it rise again when the recession lifts?

If the model is discontinued as rumoured, would this increase or decrease the value?

Never mind the recession and lower prices rubbish that you have been spun by some dealer shark (?), or the rumours of discontinuance that seem to be rife all of a sudden. Many UK prices are on the up due to supply and demand factors and believe me, there is still a healthy demand for the Beosound 9000 on the UK used market.

If you are in the UK you would be foolish to sell it for £1200. In fact if you are determined to sell it for that then please give me a call, I have cash waiting!!

I understand that the loss isn't significant, but when you sell something you always want to get the best deal.. and one of the factors is timing ie, its a recession and people pay less for things (you can buy ferrari360s for 40K now)..

basically, if you uys recon that i could sell it for say 1450 in a few years time, i would likely wait...

Its iconic??

There are plent of things I own which I don't use anymore, but would never sell including my BS2 for some mad reason!

How can you be annoyed by losing £300 in 5 years? If someone had said to you 5 years ago "ok, here's a BS9000, new, which you can rent from me for £5/month, over 5 years", would you have been disappointed? I doubt it.

I doubt the BS9000 will be discontinued any time soon (ie. this year!). I was always under the impression it was one of the more popular B&O products.

The thing is... in 4 years say, will the unit be worth more (people have more money, design icon etc)

1200 pounds sounds like a steal...

In Finland these go for about 2200 euro used. With no accessories.

A £300 loss and you have had it 5 years? I would shake the guy's hand, rip his arm off and hit him with the soggy end!

Think of it like this. At a £300 loss in 5 years, you have paid £60 a year to have it. Not bad at all i think!
