I took them to my local powder coater's. For $40 AUD which is about 18 euros they sandblasted them and powder coated them. 4 days later I got them back as they are now, i changed the colour to a slightly glossier and reflective silver.

By having them properly powder coated the surface will last alot longer than if i just sanded and painted them, and they removed all the surface rust properly.

They have come up a treat, i am very happy with them.

The stands on my S45-2's could do with a bit of TLC. What did you use to restore your stands?

Loudness on, bass at 0 and treble at 1 and it couldnt sound much better.

The nude eliptical stylus MMC20EN does a fantasitc job.

The bass was a bit boomy but over the last 6 hrs of playback its started to mellow and gain depth...

I got these off ebay a few weeks ago with a Beocenter 5000, the bass surrounds were rotted, tweeters needed new pigtails, the caps in the crossover were on their way out, one cabinet had a large chunk of vaneer on the top right-hand corner missing, half the plugs on the frets were broken, the frets were also very dirty and the stands covered in surface rust. They had been in storage for something like 10 years..

Here are some pics of the finished job - and no, I didnt repair the speakers, im bad with a soldering iron but I thought vintage B&O fans might like to see some speakers brought back from the grave.

Attached pic is of the cleaned and recoated stands
