Ahh excellent. That was what I needed to read !!
Dave.... I read in the other post about rubbing your ear against the metal part. Can I just say... that is dedication. Mebbe I should try my tongue? hahaha

Well you see, i was cleaning and accidentally rubbed past it! I experience the same senstion from the Television anntenna.

But hey what can i say, i'm at one with my B&O . The fact of the matter is, it's very normal. EVERYbody? Rub your ears against an aluminium part of some of your B&O! :)

Curiously, we've got a half acre of blueberries on a hill with big, high-voltage power lines crossing our property above them. While still on the bush they exhibit the same electrical 'vibration' as if they've become natural little batteries and are grounding to your touch. It's been the source of a lot of family jokes but they taste great and the EMF levels are surprisingly low at that location.

Re: Beosound 3 earthing.... through me??

Puncher:

It is also not uncommon for EMC reasons to bridge the double insulation barrier with a type-Y capacitor which can result in a small (safe) leakage current.

I'm not sure whether this will be the case in this instance however.

And I thought I was crazy! I think I noticed this first with my Beocenter 2800 - I felt the vibration, but only when I slid a finger on the metal parts, and the power was on. I don't think the kit from this era had much thought on EMC, so there's probably no such cap in them.

Re: Beosound 3 earthing.... through me??

It is also not uncommon for EMC reasons to bridge the double insulation barrier with a type-Y capacitor which can result in a small (safe) leakage current.

Well, could well be some sort of 'earth leakage' then, so if it worries you, and you don't like being zapped I'd take it in for service. As I said, I've never experienced it with my systems.

I don't think you should be getting 'zaps' from your system caused by electrical current charging the casing. Neither of mine including power link speakers have this problem.

That said, as you say this is 'zaps' and Dave has the same issue (and living in dry S. Aus) could this be static electricity build up, from say walking on the carpet/ floor finish, if where you live is extremely dry?

Just a thought....

Laurence.
