does anyone have a broken piece they can post to me by chance, I think I can get a single sheet of perspex the right colour, and provide a service ( at cost and p&p ) for replacement front panels for the 5000 family if I can get the colour right.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acrylic_glass

I measured the front of my Beocord and the recess for the front panel ( the depth ) is between 3mm and 4mm

Has anyone actually measured the depth with calipers a front panel on a 5000 family unit ??

good, I think it is probably 3mm or 4mm thick Perspex

http://www.gcip.co.uk/pdf/perspex_new_colour_chart.pdf

It's no where near that thick. More like 1mm having taken a closer look. Also I think it may be glass!!!

It apears to be a thin plastic from what I can see, although with it in place there is no way of telling the thickness.

There is a slight tint to it, also the Beocord has lettering set into the acrylic. Where it says "recording possible"

http://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=717

I have one unit that I would like to replace the plastic front to, it is 42cm wide and 2cm high

What are they made of - acrylic, or some sort of hardened plastic maybe ??

Also what colour are they, when I shine a torch at it, it looks clear to me, but it could be tinted, I don't really want to remove it to find out, but I will if I know I can get a replacement easily !
