I did the same thing almost and now the original avant doesn't recognise it's original board - I think it's messed up the software. It seems that the news cards need a resistor installing before you install the card.

Hi all,

Ok I've managed to 'break' the sound module (or controller???) for th external speaker modules in one of my Avant 32.

I originally had a ProLogic card installed that I updated to a DSS 5.1 (3 socket) version but then had issues with my rear speakers.

So I replaced this module with a DSS 5.1 (5 socket) version from my RF Avant 32.

This then seems to have broken my Avant 32 as none of the cards are now recognised..... :-(

BUT when I installed the DSS 5.1 (5 socket) back into the RF Avant it seems to work fine.

So, is there a component / board that I have blown and need to replace?

I also have another older Avant 32 with a broken SW socket that I'm hoping I could use to fix this.
