I think the link is there to support the home theatre dream pushing bigger and bigger monitors.

I think anyone with a 4m x 4m living room would consider themselves fortunate and with a larger than average room. Putting the recommended 100 incher in there I think is sad.

It is to my mind all about compromise of living space, TV space etc... I would have suggested a 40 to 50 incher more than adequate.

But hey!....I could be the minority?

You're not alone...........;-) but could still be the minority...........:-)

Our livingroom is just what it says : a room to live in and not just a TV room with a big black wall in it [and I can't even hang e.g. a painting on it, so black will just be all dull black] for I use my audio during may hours a day, but video for just a few hours. too big toot large too black for my taste and interiour.

from my point of view it is all about viewing distance and video quality. HD Blu Ray content is fine on a 50" screen with only 2,5 m viewing distance, poor analoge cable in SD you better sit 4m away...

I have a 50" screen and the viewing distance is 3,70m. For TV SD is OK, but for DVD it could be larger. For the "big screen" I have a projector with a 100" screen, SD TV is really bad, but Blu Ray could even be bigger....especially with 21:9 format

I think the "BeoLiving" idea is very good.

A small screen for the programs like news, tv series, ... and a hidden projector and sreen for the cinematic experience.

The main screen could be a 32" or 40" (OK for your viewing distance) and with the hidden projector and big screen, you don't transform your living room in a "showroom theatre".

I think it's a very clever solution because i think the everyday programs can't have a really good quality on a very big size (50", 65",...).

You get often black bars because lots of programs are not 16/9 and lots of are SD.

The only problem is that you must find a good location for the projector, must be in front of the screen and hidden. And find a solution to hide the cables.

You can use this online calculator here to get some guidance, but do go to the shop to see if that matches your viewing preferences.

That depends on the viewing distance, yourself, what you're watching, etc.

If you're decorating your room for movie worshipping, then bigger is always better. If you're just watching the news, you'd be fine with a smaller screen. We have a Beovision 6-26 in our living room, with a viewing distance of around 2 to 4 meters. It would be nice with a 32" screen for movies, but it's not too small. Then our living room is mainly intended for socialising, not a cinematic experience. Which is also why I don't have surround sound or even connected the telly to the stereo, by the way.

What's the main purpouse of the screen in your case?
