Hi Andy,

Though I am not a collector of the 'classics' myself, I have to agree that 'the old lady' is a remarkable good-looking piece of kit, especially in combo with the speakers. Tempting... even for me, to have one of those one day.

I am glad a true enthousiast like yourself took the time and effort to bring this piece back to life and I do hope you get alot of enjoyment out of it.

Makes me wish B&O would make something in a nice wood finished case again or just some wooden finishing strips. I am sure there is a clientele for that.

Gosh Brian! Never noticed the decade thing in that photo'!
Beovox 5000 =60s
Beomaster 1600 =70s
Beovox S120s = 80s
Beolink 7000 = 90s
Beosound 2 = 00s
5 decades, just like me!

Yes Keith. I have nevr used the media gallery, time I started.
Not sure Simon, I have a Beolab 1700 and Beomaster 1700 with just cabinet problems. Although not quality items, they are still part of our history and I have yet to hear Ambio.
Still can't solder Chris, just melt solder wiyh a soldering iron and let it solidify.

Great job, Andy !
I always liked the sound from these Beomasters.
Maybe not particularly powerful but rich, warm and pleasant if
given contemporary speakers like the Beovox 1000 you are using.
Actually, the Beovox 1000 don't even reach the HiFi norm ratings but
they do sound surprisingly good.

Noise free sliders is a must. Nothing spoils the fun more than a
scratchy volume or balance control.

Next time, ask me for lamps or would that make it too easy ?

Good choice Andy - I use 1000s with my BM 900 and they sound great :)

You should see my 6000 Quad - very nice and I think you need one in your collection now!

Beovox 1000 John. Whilst fixing it, I was testing it with some S30s, but the 1000s have quite surprising bass for their size, and they fit in a little nick where the 30s won't.

I have had this Beomaster 1600 for about a year now and thanks to Peter's service manuals, and a little help and inspiration from Menahem (Yachadm), she's back in use.
