Hideaway

Maybe 2 or 3 AUX 7 Pin DIN sockets as well as RCA - output 7 PIN DIN to DIN - would cater then for AUX sockets with Data Link

3 RCA inputs - currently I have Tape Deck and Record Player on teh same AUX IN socket

Affordable

I have an automatic SCART selector on my TV which works in the same way and also a Lintronic Box which means that I can control both iPOD and Panasonic DVD Recorder through the BEO4 as both are connected to the DVD scart - both are accessible through the link system in other rooms - but it's meant adapting a scart lead - so it would be good to have the data and ground pins available through a mini jack to mini jack lead so that the box can be connected to a Lintronic box easily and thus offer remote control of the third party products.

In my opinion, you're onto a winner as there are potentially thousands of customers worldwide that would want to buy one. Perhaps not just B&O customers but other brands such as quad etc where there are limited inputs on some classic equipment.

Re: Beocenter 2 - i need more than one 'AUX IN' connections

gk31ax:

I agree about it being a hidden product...

Whilst I am sure you would do a great "Scandinavian" design on a table top version Steve, you are still going to see lots of cables running out the back of it and I need to see less cables rather than more, so if I could hide it in my existing unit (the Beosystem 2 unit), that would be perfect!

Yes, a reasonable priced simple hide-away box would be just fine.

If you produce a hideaway box that will autosense with at least 4 inputs, you will have yourself a customer......

I read your answer with great interest. I live in the US and would definitely buy a switching box you are thinking about producing. I would love it to auto sense but it would probably be easier to have it work from the Beo4/5. I would prefer a "hidden-away" box because of all the wires. I would think 4 port input would meet most requirements. In my setup at least one of the ports would be used for a Beogram 7000 needing a grounding wire attachment. What would be really terrific would be to have the option for at least one of the ports be able to pass commands to the device attached. In this way I could remotely control my Beogram 7000 such as start play, raise arm, shut off etc. There are possibly more exciting ideas. I would definitely buy two of these boxes.

Re: Beocenter 2 - i need more than one 'AUX IN' connections

I agree!

I know the manual switching boxes are less than perfect in terms of the user interface, but as far as I am aware they are currently the only practical solution to this problem. However, I am working on an automatic version, hopefully to be ready by the summer.

I would welcome comments from forum members to help steer the design process, eg. should this "auto-sense" when there is an audio input or should it work from Beo4/5? How many inputs are needed? Should this be a "hide-away" black box or a "table-top" piece of Scandinavian-style design?

I look forward to hearing your views!

Best regards,

For HDMI, I think times moved on so that with a non B&O TV you dont have to worry about it anymore.

While I am yearning for an automatic aux, I don't know there is one and I dont think we will see one at this stage.

The simplest way is with an Aux Input Switching Kit, which will give you the ability to connect up to four items at once and select the one you want to listen to at the push of a button.

i have leads which take the sound from my plasma tv and channel it through my beocenter 2 (i dont have sound coming from my tv speakers as they are not very good) to my beolab 8000s, and this is connected to the only 'AUX IN' on the socket box. however, if i want to plug my ipod in, i need to unplug the cables in the AUX IN and put in similar cables which connect to my ipod

is there any way i can have them both connected without having to switch the cables over each time?

thanks
