This was my first post on the forum and resulted in success. I can now get the lounge back to normal which will keep the wife happy. Out of interest the VTR chassis was removed because of a blown PSU. I did component level repairs on this replacing controller i/c and power switching mosfet took some time but revived my old electronics engineering background (now retired). Yes replaced all cables and the VTR deck is same one that came out. The VTR had a blown psu which I eventually repaired (my background is electronics engineering). Now the TV does not seem to recognise the VTR. The three buttons at the top of TV do not work and when playing back a tape I only have blank screen.
