Thanks guy's, I'l stick to this section then! I am being a little impatiant I cant wait to try it out on some suitable speakers! I did try it on some BV1800's and it sounded much better but I daren't go above 3 or 3 on the volume (with lots of bass) for fear of overpowering the speaker.

I have also opened the case to find the prongs broken on the tuning slider, so doner parts will be required here also. Does anyone have a non working 3000 for sale? I am based in Notts UK.

Also I am sure I read somewhere that if the caps are red they are the old ones and need replacing. Is this correct, although mine are pink and I am assuming they are the big ones, 3 of them grouped together? I'm sorry for asking so many questions, but will my 901 also benefit from new caps?

Dillan, could you pm me please the cost of your cap kits delivered to uk?

I have spotted a BC4600 for spares or repair on e-bay and it looks like it shares the same slider parts, please could someone confirm this?

Dillan (on this forum) sells a cap set with installation instructions for the BM3000-2. He supplies great instructions.

Hi Jeff, and welcome from me as well! this forum is just fine for questions on repairs. Give it a little time, not all of our resident wizards have time to reply every day. The sliders, I'm afraid you'll have to start looking for a parts unit for them unless someone has them left. Except for the tuning slider, they should all be identical. The non-working tuning slider (does it move freely without any effect?) is probably a snapped dial cord, or the cord may have come loose from the slider hook. The preset wheels should indeed have a plastic cover over them, just like BM4000 and 4400 as well. Maybe every 50th one I see for sale has it left! Regarding the sound, it is techically superior to the 901, but it is of course also a matter of taste which you think sounds better. No doubt the 3000 is old enough that it would benefit from a cap replacement.

Welcome to the Forum Jefbro! You will find a wealth of knowledge among the forum members. I´m personally not into the real vintage B&O stuff, but I´m sure someone else here at the forum are.

Hi all, I have been enjoying this very informative site for a while now and having just purchased a Beomaster 3000-2 in need of some TLC I thought i'd better join! I have owned and used exclusiveley BM 901's now for the last 10 years or so and still marvel at the quality and richness of the sound, particularly the bass (being a dub reggae fan!). I also love the minimalist styling and the use of aluminium together with high quality wood. However, I began to wonder what a more powerfull system might sound like, hence the purchase of the 3000-2! I am very pleased with my purchase off Ebay, it seems to work ok and sounds fantastic! I love the styling, very similar to my 901's only this one is in white. Their are however a couple of things needing attention which I am hoping someone might help me out with. Firstly the volume and tuner sliders are missing their perspex, aluminium covers. Secondly the tuner seems to have come away from the mechanism inside. I hav'nt opened the case up yet tho' so can't tell you any more at present. Also should their be a cover over the small tuning wheels? This looks to be missing something too! I also need to obtain some suitable speakers for the amp, can anyone recommend what would be the best ones to look out for, or have any for sale?(preferably in white!) Thanks in anticipation Jeff

Having just tried it out on the BV1700's I am a little dissapointed with the sound quality. It does'nt come close to the 901 but I presume this will be the capacitors talked about on other threads.
