I received your email today. I haven't been on the site for a while now.

Sorry to hear that you haven't been able to resolve your problem, it is frustrating isn't it.

My reply to your two questions:

I do have a fairly cheap toshlink optical to digital converter which seems to work OK,

I am not sure how to access the software version that you require. In the service menu section, "SW" crops up all over the place. If you can direct me to the exact entry that you need, I will try and get the info for you.

Regards

I tried what you said about adding the v.aux
setting but im still having the same issue. In fact when using the v.aux source
I don't even get the ps3 start up chime I used to when using the pc source. Also
with the v.aux source I don't even get audio via the analogue inputs. Its really
strange am im hoping I can get this sorted, im currently in discussion with
B&O technical.

Are you using the toshlink optical to coax
convertor? I know mine is working as I tested with a Sony amp.. im thinking its a handshake
issue wit the TV & hopefully not a hardware fault..

Just to let you know is definitely the mk 2 I have,
could you pls post the software version you are running as I would like to see
if its a newer version than
mine

Thanks

Thanks again Jeff.. as I mentioned that im only using vmem for my second sat
box. For the ps3 im currently trying to use the pc input as I originally thought
that was the only possible option I could use to select the dvi input. Its
starting to make sense now.. I will try adding V.AUX and then give it a go

will let you know!

I presume that you are using the Beo4 remote. To add V.AUX, you have to go through the normal routine of adding a function to your items in LIST. The procedure is well documented where you start by pressing the red dot and LIST at the same time. Press GO when you see ADD? and LIST to scroll through the available items. Press GO when you see V.AUX and it will be added to your LIST menu.

I am not sure why you are trying to use the VMEM function which you appear to have dedicated to your set top box. On my BV7, I have a choice of four possible connections which I access through MENU / OPTIONS / CONNECTIONS. These are listed as AV1 to AV4 and AV1 is booked as the VMEM connection. For the PS3, I usually work with socket AV3.

In the AV3 menu, I select V.AUX for the source, A4 for the audio, nothing for the IR port and DVI-I for the HDMI option. Thereafter, when I select V.AUX from the LIST menu, the TV is setup to receive digital audio through socket A4 and the video signal through the DVI port.

I have outlined what I can do with my BV7 and I am not sure what version you are working with. You may have to go back to the manual if there are any big differences between your model and mine.

Regards

Thanks for the reply as its extremely appreciated.. come to think of it my
bv7 may indeed be a mk2, I purchased in June 06 & its the hd model. When you
mention that you have the TV set to VAUX, where is this as on my remote I have
VMEM which I currently use for a second satellite box. I had a look this morning
on the VMEM setting but I cannot select A4, just 1 2 or 3.

I have also had a great deal of difficulty connecting the PS3 to a Mk2 BV7 but fortunately, my setup has now been running well for the last six months. It plays the blue ray discs and the games with excellent video and audio and we are very happy. I am not an expert in these systems and have simply chopped and changed the settings by trial and error before eventually coming up with something that worked. I haven’t a clue whether the same settings will work with your Mk1 BV7.

The TV is connected to the PS3 with a DVI to HDMI cable.

The optical connection from the PS3 passes through a converter and connects into digital audio A4

I have the TV set as VAUX with the A4 and DVI options selected.

The settings I use on the PS3 are as follows:

DTS 5.1 Ch is also selected

Linear PCM 2Ch 44.1kHz and Linear PCM 2Ch 48kHz both appear selected in a grey box.

I can’t find any other settings that might be relevant but if these work for me, they might work for you.

I have 40" beovison 7, mark 1 which has dvi input. I have currently been
enjoying hd gaming via my ps3 but always had analogue sound. I recently
purchased a toshlink optical to coax convertor. I'm having issues as im not
getting any sound. I have checked all the settings on the ps3 & bv7 ensuring
that the audio source on pc is set to a4 & that the coax cable is in the
correct port. The strange thing is that when I turn the ps3 on I get the start
up sound find but after I lose all sound. I'm thinking it could be a handshake
issue between the ps3 & TV. I have tested the setup on my Sony surround
system & it works fine. I have spoke to B&O who are getting back to me
on Monday.. do you think it could be the software on the TV?
