Aww hahahahaha! the picture of the big white cat made me chuckle, i love it, and hey lucky you for scoring a AV9000 in a country where it's not so common!

On declawing... i've never heard of this, but my cat Theo has his claws clipped because he is an indoor cat, this was advised by the vet. Still doesn't stop him hoeing into all the furniture and bedding, but i'm ok with that, nothing i can do (i'm never going to punish or banish him just because i want to look after material things) - as long as he's happy, material possesions come second to a happy life

De-clawing is illegal here in the UK - though I can see why you might want to do it for a house cat if the laws in your area permit it.

We have two ragdolls that are thankfully very pliant by nature, and I cut their claws back because as they are house cats, they don't go outside and expereince the wearing effect of rough surfaces. They're strange boys - half brothers a year apart and with some strange interbreeding (their fathers were father and son, where the son mated with his own mother to produce one of them).

I have 4 cats , all of them rescued. The oldest one was thrown out of car driving in front of us on the highway (at 100km/h).
The other 3 came from the same litter and were about to be terminated that day at the spca. They just had too many to cope with.

Mine only have the front declawed as they are the most destructive. They need their back claws for jumping etc. They never leave the house and don't have to catch their prey. Honestly doesn't stop them functioning by any degree anyways...they're hunters allright....

Cats don't seem to like microfibre type fabrics or leather that much and a good scratching post is a must (even for declawed ones)

Great photo benjnz - not uncommon for white cats to be deaf, it is the white gene which also carries the info' which causes this.

You also get it with white dogs, particularly Dalmatians which are all born pure white and the spots appear later.
