Peter and Graham are correct (as always!) however, there is one important point to remember....

Beogram turntables without built-in pre-amps use pin 7 for Datalink and pin 6 for Data Ground, whereas BeoSystem 2300 will be designed to work with the later (pre-amplified) Beograms which use pin 6 for Datalink and pin 7 for Data Ground. Trust B&O to confuse things!

Hence, if you add an external pre-amp, you will need to swap these two pins over when connecting the Datalink wires. Most "off-the-shelf" pre-amp kits do not include Datalink wires, but any competent cable supplier should be able to add these for you if required.

Graham is, as usual, completely correct. Datalink was not removed until after the Ouverture.

You can certainly control a Beogram from a 2500 'cos I use the remains of one in my workshop. I don't have a 2300 at the moment but my money would be on yes, as long as it is a BG3500, 4500, 6500 or 7000.

Don't think you will be able to control a Beogram by remote. At least I could not on my BS3000. Although it had a 7 pin DIN socket, only 5 pins were connected.

I use a Beogram 7000 (mit SMMC4) with my Beosound 3000 - no idea about the remote functions...

BG 7000, 6500, 4500 and 3500 have a RIAA built in, but you could use any other type with a pre-amp kit (see lifestyle)

BeoSystem 2300 and connecting a record player

One of my friends asked me, if he can connect a record player to his BeoSystem 2300.

I guess, that the BS2300 do not have a dedicated turntable connection and therefore to be able to connect a turntable, need a player with a RIAA amplifier either build-in or externally.

Which player should he go for? Are there any turntables that work with the remote control for the BS2300?

He likes the Tangential tracking type. Which type should go for? Are there any of them with a build-in RIAA amplifier and perhaps can be remotely controlled?
