My point was really regarding what might happen if the whole "music download" thing became part of the Sky box experience rather than the computer. Now we're entering a whole new market of non-computer types.

No I have never downloaded music illegally either. I still prefer CDs as I have yet to be convinced of the quality of compressed music - perhaps someone can advise me otherwise??

Sorry,

I'm not trying to have a dig at everyone who downloads a few tracks here and there - I think it is the habitual downloaders/file sharers who are causing problems for the music industry. I admit to having downloaded a handful of songs in the past, but only with the intention of buying them on CD/from iTunes if I like them (why settle for a free 96kbit/s MP3 download when you can get a far higher quality version fairly cheaply so that you can hear the music properly)?

This new BSkyB solution sounds like just the thing to get music streaming back into the homes of music lovers - legally!

Looks like good news for both music lovers and musicians. I think that this is the first sensible solution so far to the plague of peer-to-peer downloading that is currently killing the music industry.
