&lt;p&gt;That sounds like a good solution - I always say that the best place for an RIAA pre-amp is inside the turntable casing.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Also using the 12volt motor supply for the preamp with of course a smoothing/noise killer in the supply line!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;A couple of metres will not be a problem for a non pre-amped turntable.&amp;nbsp; However, the golden rule is always to add the pre-amp as early as possible in the chain (if using an external pre-amp).&amp;nbsp; Once amplified, you can safely run&amp;nbsp;a line-level signal up to 50 metres or more with confidence (even up to 100 metres with careful planning!)&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Subsequent to sorting an old Sony turntable by fitting an RIAA preamp I am now seeking thoughts on the maximum length of feed cable ie turntable to main unit I am thinking of a separation of about 1.50 - 2.00 m will this work or will extraneous noise be collected?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I ask before changing the locational setup and the production of new interconnecting cables.&lt;/p&gt;
