The problem some people have from time to time with downloading manuals is NOT corrupt files.

The problem is a software problem on the Beoworld web server and we know the caused, but because there is a significate coding re-write required to fix it, it has not been scheduled.

The new server that the Beoworld web site is running on is much faster and has a fast connection to the Internet which is considerably better than the old server. That is the core of the problem because normally when you go to a site to down a file you click on a hyperlink and effectively pull the file to your PC. So effectively your PC controls the download process.

However, on the Beoworld web site does the opposite, it PUSHES blocks of 128K of the file at a time to you and if you receive them out of sequence you get the error. It can happen with ANY file, not just large files.

There is every intention of fixing the problem, but as always its a matter of available time.

Re: BeoCenter 9000 User Manual PDF corrupt

Worth trying a couple of times - I regularly have problems but after one failure, it has just downloaded for me.
There is nothing wrong with our downloads - I just tried it and it works perfecly as, by the way, do the FAQ's.

What type of computer and operating system are you using???

There is/was an ongoing issue for some, at some times when downloading large manuals. Keith posted this comment on the 8th March in the "problems" thread at the top of the general forum -

"The Beoworld web site was running on a server which would fail once in a while, so Van arranged to move it to a new server and everything appeared much better, then a few poeple had noted that some manual downloads would fail during the download process and more recently credit card membership renewals would give some problems and were rejected.

For the few members who have had problems downloading large manuals, Peter has been providing the required manuals on a different server. So if you are a silver or gold members and cannot download a particular manual then please e-mail Peter or myself and we will put it on a different server for you to download from".

Initial investigation has pointed the problem for both issues to the way data is transferred from the server to the user or bank and is caused by an apparent timing issue in the software not seen on the old server. When the system is lightly loaded is when it is most likely to give a problem, because it appears that the server is sending the data faster than it can be received and so teh receiver gets "Data overun" and provides an error.

Re: BeoCenter 9000 User Manual PDF corrupt

There is nothing wrong with our downloads - I just tried it and it works perfecly as, by the way, do the FAQ's.
