You should be able to use the "line" setting and the DIN adapter (available from your friendly dealer) to hook into the Airport Express. This is about as compact and high performance as is currently available provided your music files are at high resolution. You will also have internet radio, podcasts, and other audio content available through iTunes as well. My current main system is configured this way (with the exception of a BV8 between the computer and the BL3s) and I am quite satisfied with the performance and flexibility.... provided that you want to drink the Apple (and B&O) "koolaid".

Re: Which system for a small office?

Dunno about the money part.

I have just about finished renovating my office and I currently use a beomaster 5500 with some cx100 speakers.

My office is not that big and with the beomaster and speakers tucked away in a shelving unit it's an ideal space use and with excellent sound production. The beomaster is ideal as you can easily plug in other stuff (computer, ipod, etc.)
I did try several speakers (beolab 3,BL4000) but they were just too powerfull for the space. Best option were Beolab2500 speakers but I opted for the cx100 because it's way less wiring and so much easier to set up, and I do like them best because they turn out almost invisible in the shelving unit.

Just my 2 cents .... I hope you find it helpfull.

Kindest regards,

O.

Re: Which system for a small office?

Hi Durr,

Just my 2 cents... whilst the 8000 (and depending how componants you plan to use) is probably to big for a small office, my thinking is if you have the physical space to place it in the room and since you are already have a mint condition working unit, why not try to use it?

Whilst also, you won't be able to use it at its full potential, you will find that these systems even at low volumes are a joy to listen to, as they have great depth and clarity. Often late at night I will listen to my 6000 at volumes less than 10 (0 - 60 scale) with some nice jazz or classical ......

So food for thought.... to go with some of the other good suggestions above for a new unit or back to the original idea of some 'smallish' speakers....

Good luck!

Laurence

Depends what sources you want but an Ouverture with Beolab 4000s when bought second hand will be very good value for money. Compact and powerful.

Fully agree. I have an Ouverture and Beolab 3s in my office, which is great. Another good option would probably be a Beosound 1.

Re: Which system for a small office?

Xseries:

The P50 was designed for the BM6000 as the top of the range speakers were considered too large to have 4 of them in an average room in the 1970s!

Once had a BM6000 quad with 4 Beovox M75's. That did need a lot of space. P50's are very nice speakers too. Had a couple of pairs of P Range speakers. Never kept any though, just had a play then sold them on.

It might be rubbish - I don't know yet!

John, I had a Beosound 2 connected to that BM6000. Sounded very good, that was not through CX50's though. Can't see any problem with using CX50's though. Most BM6000's seem to have been suppied with P50's.

A 5000/5500/6500/7000 stacking system would take up a small amount of space, and some CX50s or 100s would be similarly compact.

I guess it depends on what source you're planning on using? Do you have to have a record deck and cassette deck? If not, then you could pick from one of many older Beomasters and perhaps hook up to your computer?
