Well if they both received some kind of "rough" handling at some point?

If they've been used as rear speakers, the previous owner probably never noticed anything? Since the information sent to the rear channels is very limited, especially if used in a older pro logic system.

Yes I have done so, just seems inplausable that both would go at the same time.

You can download the service manual. There seems to be two fuses.

I am hoping it is a fuse or a cut out, something simple would be great.

Strange indeed. Could there be a fuse blown? They have different amps for treble and bass. If the bass amps fuse went bust on both at the same time?...

Yes the bass drivers.

No I have tested them individually and both are dead. The tweeters are both working, very strange.

Do you mean the 4 bass drivers? (2 per speaker)

Sounds weird that they would have died on both speakers. Do you loop the signal trough one speaker to the other?

Just got some Lab 8000s and all 4 drivers are dead. No splits at all, although slight grating on gentle pushing in of the cone edges. Seems no power is going to them at all.

They were previously only used as rear speakers in surround set-up so not hammered.

Any thoughts?
