Hi Samuk,

From what you have said I understand that:

You can operate certain functions with the remote but not the volume and off
buttons?

You have tested the remote using a camera and can see it light up when
pressing CD & radio but nothing happens when you press the volume up, down
or off buttons?

I am certain the cause of your problem is a common fault within the BL1000
itself. Easily repairable. You will need to take the BL1000 apart and check the
contact sheet which is a plastic sheet that sits between the rubber buttons and
the circuit board. The contact sheet has dimples with dark spots. You will
probably find that the ones you use most have flaked away through wear and age.
I have repaired these in the past using normal kitchen foil cut with a paper
hole puncher and then gluing the little foil discs onto the contact sheet. The
glue has to be flexible - I used post-it note type glue which comes on a
dispenser.

Or you couuld buy another remote.

Steve

No, that can't be the problem. Perhaps the original owner had the tv and the Beomaster connected together, and the Beomaster might be programmed to option 0 (i.e it doesn't use its own IR receiver, just takes commands from the tv).

Try this to program the Beomaster to option 1, that is enable its own remote receiver:

With the Beomaster in standby, press SOUND - 1 - STORE on the Beolink 1000. Hopefully you will see the standby LED flash briefly, and from then on the remote should work.

Sorry if this is all fairly obvious. However, have you checked the battery terminals of the remote for corosion and/or have you tried fresh batteries? Sometimes it is the simplest things that cause the biggest problems.

This can be a real problem since all Beolink 1000s are getting rather old. In the old days, you could still buy cheap non-alkaline batteries (you'd think most B&O first owners could have afforded decent batteries, but...) and they very often leaked when left in for too long. I've seen Beolink 1000s so corroded in the inside that it was a small wonder they still worked!

Even after you clean the battery contacts, the wires that connect to the battery compartment may have corroded solderings that do not work anymore. Even more so, if the battery holder is loose and moves inside the remote. Easy to fix if you know how to solder, but requires disassembly of the remote. Be sure to try fresh batteries first - sometimes touching corroded electronics just makes things worse and you're off to a complete overhaul, meaning ultrasonic cleaning etc...

Re: Thanks and need help for my B&O

Dear Greham,

You will not see a red light but a brightish flash (white light I think) if your remote is working. Here is what you need to do:

1 Place your camera or phone camera lens in close proximity to theremote control's emitter bulb (you should be able to see this through the view-finder).

2. Whilst looking through the viewfinder, depress any of the remote's buttons. A bright flash should be seen on the camera's view screen.

Sorry if this is all fairly obvious. However, have you checked the battery terminals of the remote for corosion and/or have you tried fresh batteries? Sometimes it is the simplest things that cause the biggest problems.
