This is a great point!! This topic comes up very often but i never thought of that point! Regardless i'd rather go without and save up for BL9 if money was an issue, i'm a music man and i prefer the design of the BL9 to the BL8000 and BL2 - looks messy and out dated IMO

I would vote for the BL9s too! However it is a very personal choice and the advantage of the other approach is that one can spread the cost more if that is an issue!

If your main interest is movies I would choose BL8000 + BL2, because the BL2 is excellent for movies/surround sound.

If your main interest is music I would choose BL9, because it outperforms the BL8000 + BL2 combo, when it comes to true/pure sound.

If you cannot make up your mind, you should go with whatever pleases your eye the most.

Beolab 9 are just far away from the 8000's, design wise they are more modern, and acoustically there is just no comparison.

I would personally go for BeoLab 9s without a subwoofer. The BeoLab 2 is good but it's no way near as detailed and 'agile' as the bass drivers in the BeoLab 9s which perform very well! I've never found the BeoLab 9 to be lacking in bass/extension regardless of whether it's with movies or music.

The BL9s definitely do not need a sub. I had the BL2 connected with the BL9s and it was total overkill. Also, it seemed to make the sound more 'dull'. Too much bass. Not clean enough. You'd be wasting a lot of money buy buying a BL2 with BL9s.

Hi,

Speakers are a highly personal thing, depends on your favourite music and also how you like your music presented. For me the low end of the frequency spectrum is important, therefore I like the Lab2 + 8000 combination better. I like the Lab9's, but I feel they also need a sub.

If I had the choice between BL8000s/BL2 and BL9s, there would be no hesitation over the BL9s. Mind you, I'd use them in combination with a 7.4 under my BV7, rather than a 7.1 speaker.

BL2 isn't too good for CD playback, depending on your choice of music.

Beolab 9 for sure. A much better solution than BL8000 and BL2.

Beolab 9 has gotten very good reviews in the audiophile community. Something the BL8000 never got.
