I agree, that's the my main issue with this forum compared to all the other forums I also visit, and I guess that other members that have experience from other forums also miss this important feature. To me, this is _much_ more important than the ability to create blogs and such (also possible in other software, btw ;-) )

To the admins: Are you sure that CS really doesn't have this feature? Maybe it's available as an add-on?

I must admit that I'm a bit confused by the choice of CS as forum software, in my experience vbulletin (for example) is a lot cheaper and it's easy to get good support from the large user base and it has all the features that beoworld uses, and most important: it works the way that most users expects a webforum to work. One of my favourite forums is the Swedish site www.99.se - more than ten times as big as beoworld, and a joy to use.

On the other hand, if you chose CS because of it being your favourite software and beacuse you already had experience of it, I'm perfectly ok with that, of course :-) It doesn't matter to me what software you use - use what you feel comfortable with, I'm grateful for all the work you put into this great website. I just want the forum to work the way I'm used to, haha :-) I know that a site this big is a lot of work, and of course I really appriciate your efforts - you're doing a great job.

The key features of Community Server 2008 with Service Pack 3 are:-

PM's (Personal Mail) becomes Conversations which allows more than two members are able to have a conversation between each other. As part of this upgrade process all members PM's have been converted to Conversations.
Members effectively have their own home page where they can add their own announcements etc
Many areas provide RSS feeds which are downloaded to local readers if the member requests a particular feed. There is a RSS feed logo wherever a feed is available.
Where someone has asked a question and received an acceptable answer, that answer can be set to "Marked as Answer" so you can search for answers for a particular question
You can your own "Friends List" and add a members to your friends list.
We can now have advertisments at the top and/or bottom of the forum.
We can setup several different "Look & Feel" themes which can be changed in real time at one click in the control panel. This is useful for example changing the way the forum looks on "Prize Draw" day or Christmas
If we allow it, members can have their own "Blogs"
We can setup "Groups" for example "The Wednesday Thread" Group
There is now a Media centre for all kinds of documents including video, photos, PDF's and authorised members can have their
Media areas. Uploads to the media centre can be done and anyone can download items if we enable it.
The ability to integrate with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 if we decide that would be an advantage
Ability to stream video from the forum, so you could have an on-line video announcement for example.
In CS 2008 we can sent bulk e-mail for Newsletters etc to members.
Integrated search across blogs, forums, photos, and files in one consistent user interface

I was wondering (for my own interest really although others might be interested too) if Keith or one of the mods could outline the technical improvements afforded by the new software over and above the additional features we can see for ourselves. For example I understand that our previous storage space issues have been considerably eased, how has that been achieved? I'm sure there are lots of other things too - just me being nosey really!
