Still, there's more to the problems according to B&O:

BeoSound 3 cannot play files with embedded covers

Information valid for: BeoSound 3, BeoSound 3 MK II

If you rip a CD in BeoPlayer version 4.65 or higher, the file cannot be played back from an SD card loaded in

BeoSound 3.

When BeoPlayer 4.65 or higher rips a CD, it incorporates the cover with the file via AMG, and when this

information is included in the file on the SD card, it cannot be played on BeoSound 3.

The only solution is to rip a CD without the AMG function - either by using a BeoPlayer version prior to

version 4.65, or by removing the network connection when ripping CDs, or by using a different programme

to rip your CDs.

If people have a BeoSound 3 in the garden, a Serenata phone, and a BeoSound 4 in the house, what bitrate are they supposed to select when ripping their CDs???

None of the present SD/flash memory based products have the same specs, I listen to lossless WMA on my Serenata, but will never buy a BS3 or a BS4, simply because I won't be able to listen to my audio files on them!

Is it so hard to update all BeoSounds 2/3/4 and 6 to play lossless WMA files? Or are we supposed to partition our hard drives to have half of it in lossless, and the other half in 192 kbps? I'm sure almost 80% of B&O owners don't know how to partition a hard drive..

It seems that my BeoSound 3 doesn't want to play WMA files at a Lossless bit rate. I wasn't aware until now that there were these kinds of restrictions. Any thoughts? Anyone else tried with different results? I'll try them at 192 when I get a chance and hope they'll play. If not, then it'll have to be back to 128. Given the nature of the BeoSound 3 I am sure I wouldn't have noticed much of a difference anyway but it was an interesting exercise. All it does when you press the A.MEM button is count up through the number of files on the SD Card and displays 'A - 0' briefly before switching off.
