Yes it's the type 8523 and it was availabe as an option. nmartin i considered buying your exact TV but thought, "nah i won't need powerlink" HOW I WAS WRONG! So instead of a 50 dollar extra amount for powerlink, it's 1700 dollars now EEEK!!!!! I can purchase that option but i refuse to as it is almost the amount i paid for the entire TV and for that sort of money i might as well buy an entire B&O music system and masterlink it! :(

I should ask Lee or Jason for these parts? I shall do that! :) Anyone else have these parts floating around? If not i suppose my only option is to obtain a beolink active and masterlink a pair of beolabs to the telly - which would be messy and too stressful for a bedroom...

Because you talked about having to change the back cover I had assumed that you had an older Beocentre 1.

There was four (4) versions of the Beocentre 1 as follows:-

Beocentre 1 Type 850X which does not have AC3/DTS module and it is not available as an option
Beocentre 1 Update 1 Type 851X which does not have AC3/DTS module and it is not available as an option
Beocentre 1 Update 2 Type 852X can have a type 4063 AC3/DTS surround sound module as an option
Beocentre 1 Update 3 Type 8531 to 8540 can have a type 4063 AC3/DTS surround sound module as an option

The Beovision 3 can have a Dolby Digital module as an option and is type 4003

So, I stand by my answer that you CANNOT use a 5:1 module from your Beovision 3 in your Beocentre 1 of any version.

You should check the 4 digit "Type" number of your Beocentre 1 against the list above.

If you have the later version of the Beocentre 1, then you CAN purchase it as an option.

Yes, if you want you need to order new digital back. I have BC1 with digital back. Try to ask Lee or Iconic-AV, maybe they can offer you back from their on stock BC1, it will be certainly much more cheaper.

As far as I know this is only a back cover, so you can replace yours with one that have ...

Really? Because powerlink module that the technician quoted me for was the 5 channel board... hence the high price. My BC1 has the ports for 2 powerlink sockets but apparently that is not available and they have to order in a new back cover to accommodate the 5 ch sockets which is a whopping $700 aus dollars..

I was quoted 1700 aussie dollars to have a DSS board and new rear cover fitted to my BC1... i would never pay that much for that. but my BV3 has the AC3 module, which i don't use, is there a way of putting it in the BC1? (and obviously having B&O update the software?)
