Hi Peter,

I'm particularly interested in this device - cable ?

I'm planing to connect my iPod via SCART on my BC1 . And BC will be master in my setup connected via convector 1611 to BS2300.

Can I use this feature whit this setup, and what kind of cable do I need ?

The speaker outputs are perfectly safe and are designed to be used for just this purpose. If most of your music is stored digitally, I would use an input on the TV and work your iPod using an Apple dock and remote. The 3200 hard drive is not that great in my opinion - not able to store that much music and not at lossless either. It is also a complete pain to have to manually name tracks!

One solution is to use something like a Mac mini as a music server attached to the TV, though this does get away from B&O somewhat!!

Wow, that was quick, thank you both very much.

My return question is perhaps I haven't explained the TV best, it does have 6 single line out external speaker conections for 5.1 sound and have linked up the beolabs for one day and have full control of vlume using RCS plugged leads. I unplugged them becuase I didn't want to damage the speakers. So can you confirm if they will be OK as short term solution to play my CD's thought he DVD player, etc. until I get myself a Beocentre.

Is there any product where I can link the TV and the ipod in, if I can't strech to the 3200 version and use the built in hard drive?

One other thought was to have the TV linked to the beocentre and for my forthcoming PS3 have the music stored on it and play this to the beocente, via the TV?

I'll try to answer the questions in order.

1. The 6000s can be attached to any VARIABLE line out - in other words a pre-amplifier output so that you still have volume control. The amplifier in the Beolab 6000 simply amplifies the input and if you feed it normal line out such as that fed to a tape machine etc, you will get very loud and uncontrollable volumes! Not sure what your set produces though if you let us know a model number, it might help.

2. Yes, though you will only get stereo as you will need to attach the fixed line level output from the TV (an output designed to go to a tape player etc) to the Aux of the BeoSound/Beocenter and this will only accept stereo.

3. Yes - you can actually link a number of pairs of speakers though you can only have right or left speakers - not rear channel. They will all work together though in this set up.

4. If you have a Beosound or Beocenter, the answer is definitely yes. Have a look at the Masterlink article.

1. Hi, you cannot plug a pair of Beolab to a line out. It need to be a variable level, like the headphone output from your TV.

However, I would recommand going through a Beosound.

2. Yes, they all have a AUX IN, so you can connect the line out (this time) from your TV to the Aux IN of your BS. Regarding 2.1 or 5.1 the answer in no... the BS are stereo only.

3. Yes, that is the point.

4. Yes, absolutely, you would need the 3000 or 3200, connect a Masterlink cable from it to the other room. In the other room, you can install a module called a Beolink active, to which you connect an IR eye and a pair of Beolab speakers. Otherwise, you can install a Beolink passive module and connect a pair of "normal" speaker.

5. As the only AUX of the BS will be taken by the TV, you will not be able to connect the ipod to the BS. You would have to connect it as a TV source, and call it from the TV.

Hello

I have just started to build up my home audio and TV set up and have decision using at least Beolab Speakers, which I am the happy owner of a pair of 6000 to start with.

I have intially some basic questions which I hope I can be helped with.

1 Can I plug the Beolab speakers into the line out RCA connectiuons directly on my TV. I know they work, but don't want to damage them? The current TV is Panasonic.

2 Can I route the music through, say a 2300, 3000 of 3200 Beocentre so I can have all my music playing through this excellent equipment and my TV sound? If so, I guess only 2.1 Stereo can heard and not 5.1?

3 Can I link up another pair of Beolab speakers to the Beocentre?

4 Are there any multi room options available for me to stream music into the room next door?

Many thanks and appreciate any help you can give me.

I have an ipod if that helps (sorry!!)
