Well the Avant is now in place and looks great, I would just like to say a huge thank you to Jason for collecting it for me. Not the easiest place to get to either with a van. Quite easy to get lost in Solihull as Jason found out.

Well thanks to Jason's kind offer it will be safely transported upright in his van. Usually I always transport TV's on their screen with an old duvet placed underneath. After moving quite a few TV's this way I have never damaged one.

well if laying down a CRT It is best to lay it on it's diagonal side to prevent the damage that matt mentioned, (thats why on the B&O boxes they have that little picture showing not to lay it on it's front) it's also possible that fragments can fall from inside the screen and land on the crt grid... can't remember the technical terms

If its and RF version, I took the glass off the TV and transported that seperately......

I laid mine screen down in the back of my A3 which was the dealers advice

Drove mine over 200 miles, lots of duvets and pillows to protect it and didn't drive like an idiot...

Arrived home in perfect condition

Never transport one on it's front! This puts unneccesary pressure on the middle portion between the base and screen. Also, the screen can crack - especially the RF models which have the plate glass frontage. If you're using an estate car drop the seats fully - i.e. pull the bottom half of the back seats up first before you fold the top half - this way you'll have a flat load bay, rather than a tilted one which may cause the set to tip either way whilst in transit.

True Graham, which was my original plan but the layout of the back of my estate enabled me to strap the Avant in on its back and strap it to the pull out parcel shelf which lessened the chance of damaging the screen. I'm sure the best way would be to transport one stood on its base in a van and secured to the sides.

No Craig, they don't come apart.

I transported mine in the back of my estate car laid on its back & held in situ with bungee cords to stop it rolling around - and then drove very conservatively

There are hand holds at the rear (2 holes at the same height as the lower screen edge) and 2 "indentations" just under each side of the screen surround which give you the correct balance when moving it around.

Tomorrow I am collecting an Avant 28 VCR, which I will be using in the Bedroom. Do they come apart in any way? At the very least can I remove the stand? Also I am looking for the User Manual for it. Type number 8103, we do not seem to have it on the site. From the products page it is either a MK3 or MK4 50Hz.

If you go to the Beotech part of the site and look throught the old accessories catalogues you'll find B&O used to do an Avant Bungee strap especially for lashing them onto the pilion seat of your bike!
