We usually offer complimentary software updates within the warranty period and then at an hourly rate subsequently. The cost you were quoted seems a bit on the high side, but it could also depend on your distance to the dealer.

I would bet that if you took your BeoSystem 1 in to the shop they would update it for free. Takes about 10 minutes.

The software tool, however, is only available to dealers or (looks left and right) friends of dealers.

ccdb update for Beosystem 1

I have a beosystem 1 with 4.7f ccdb. I just purchased Directv and a Sony BluRay. I would like to update the database to control these items. My local dealer states that this can only be done at my home, by them, and that it will cost $280 (the same price as my BluRay). This does not seem reasonable to me. The software has had at least 4 revisions (the latest is 4.7j or higher) since this $5000 system integrator was purchased. So, this means that the total cost is somewere north of $6k. I just want something that controls my plasma with my Beo4. Does anyone know if I can obtain the update and install it myself? Any suggestions would be appreciated
