I think it depends on the settings you also have the sub set to. Mine is at setting 3 i think, so there is A LOT less bass then setting 1 for some reason.

On the TV, I have set the subwoofer level to 4 bars (BV7-40) and its fine.

I sold my one a year ago. I was unable to find the right settings to be pleased with the sound. From my point of view this is the speaker with the least "must have" factor in the B&O line up.

A sub with the lab 5's calibration system like the Velodyn's Digital Drive series would be a very nice V2.0 of the lab 2!

Yep. I had them connected with the BL3s, but I found they couldn't keep up with fast electronic music and, with movies, they were a bit too boomy at times.

Ditched both the BL3s and BL2 and replaced with BL9s. Much better all-round audio experience (for movies).

The beolab 2 s setup for the 8000 speakers. The source (beosound 9000) is set "flat", I never mess with the bass and treble.

I will gladly take the advice and play with the positioning of the sub.

I use the BL2 next to a set of BL1 and I love the BL2 for music and movies!

I did however need quite some time before I had it working nicely (according to my ears). Especially the positioning of the BL2 (as most subwoofers I guess) is quite critical. The amount of bass you hear/experience can change quite dramatically by changing the BL2 position.

Since the BL8000 are not to good at the low end frequencies I would expect the BL2 to be very efficient also for optimizing the sound quality for music.

So my advice would be: Try to play around with the BL2 positioning and settings until you are satisfied with the sound quality!

I have a beolab 2 with beolab 8000s. For some music the sub is TOO MUCH; for other things, it makes a nice addition. I have seriously considered taking the sub out of the picture, as the 8000s have enough bass for most situations.

What I'd like to be able to do is toggle the beolab 2 on/off without having to rewire anything.

So I guess my answer is, "no, I have not sold it, but yes - I have considered repurposing it for the same reason."
