Probably said by a member who doesn't have any knowledge about electronics...I'll take this as a personal offence!

For more then 20 years already a B&O fan, but then again realistic about it's performence.

Firstly, I understand the ABL function quit well.

Secondly, some electronic parts do not work as well as when they were mounted. Like capacitors for instance.

Most older stuff from B&O like the MX'en en VX'en and so on are suffering with bad components, because they start leaking.

And that's the same with the Penta's.

And finaly, components are improved in the past years. So changing components by newer ones with the same value will achieve a better performence without abusing it's original layout.

Beobuddy, as long as you are happy that is all that matters, but i wouldn't have done that personally, the best thing about beolabs is the neural and honest sound. Some B&o has that enhanced sound to compensate for the smaller speakers and their enclosures (some of the the TV's have this) and it isn't realistic. Ever considered Bose? lol

Last updated 3105.99.!!!! This update was made to a MKI ABL speaker and was before the MKII update was an option!

I've done some kind of modification on my Penta's.

I've replaced the opamps and capacitors inside the amplifier with better ones, and the capacitors on the filterboard,

You would be amazed when you hear the difference!

I did it and made a test cd (mono) to hear the difference between a modified speaker and the unmodified one.

I also asked several persons to listen to both speakers and then asked them which one they thought was modified.

They all pointed at the modified Penta.

Voices are more clear and the bass respons is deeper and has more punch.

You can look at the workbench section where photo's of the DIY are placed.
