I actually tried that, pressing the numbers (perhaps a bit randomly, not sure i tried all of them) but there seemed to be no difference (apart from when pressint 8 the music disappeared), but you are right, perhaps there is an extra cd mode.

Another solution could be building a IR-reciver in to the datalink cable, I have heard about this once (perhaps on ebay?). In this way you are able to control a beogram cd no matter what it is connected to. The IR-reciver transfers the commands from the beolink to the beogram as if it was connected to a beomaster, and it ofcource needs 240volts to operate. Try searching a bit on ebay ect. Perhaps other members remember something about this solution?

When you press AUX on BC9000 there are some options available for a moment, then they disappear. F.e if you press AUX and then 8 the BC acts as a microphone amp! I think there are options 1,2,3,4,5 and 8 available. The manual only gives the explonation of mode 8, does anyone have any experience of the other modes? Could some of them even include control of external extra-cd?

Well, it apears the answer is no...

I tried connecting the Beogram cd 3500 to the a-aux on the Beocenter 9000 but it did not respond to any commands from the beolink, no matter if the shift radio command or the cd command was pressed in advance. So although it sounds just fint, it is not possible to remote control the beogram cd. The operating panel on the beogram cd worked just fint.

On a beomaster 3500/4500 it is possible to tell the beomaster that it is a second beocord that is connected to the a.aux, so it will send beocord codes via datalink, but there is no option for a an extra cd. I quess in those days no one tought of having more than one cd-player.

So if you want a cdplayer for your beocenter you should probably get a beogram cd 3500/4500/3300 where you can operate all commands up front, not only step through tracks like on the beogram cd 5500.

Hi there

I would love to help, but the BEogram cd 5500 is is a setup in a different room in a closet so it is not that easy to switch around. BUT how about this: I currently got a beocord5500 connected to the BC900 as tape2. If I connect it to the a-aux connection on the BC900 and tests if that works. If it does, I see no reason why a Beogram CD 5500 should't work too. I test it this evening.

Better yet, I just remembered that I got a Beogram CD 3500 sitting still. It will be very easy for me to connect it to the aaux of the beocenter 9000 and test if it works. If the remote works with a 3500 connected to the 9000, is should also work with a 5500 connnected to a 9000. I'll return tonight.

I know that member ChrDH has both a BGCD5500 and a BeoCenter 9000. You could PM him, and ask if he could test it for you.

It works in AUX in as much as you can get the thing to play through the BC9000 but IIRC you have to force it via the keyboard. I don't recall ever using a remote as all I was interested in at the time was "is the CD50/5500 a good'un or did it require the service dept" or put another way "could I sell it this week or have I got to fix it first" !!

Not sure! And I don't have a 9000 to test it with. However the CD5500 usually behaves like a record player with a built in RIAA. I don't think it will work via the Tape 2 socket as that will use Tape commands and the Phono socket has a RIAA built in and uses the wrong pin for Datalink. The Aux socket would be worth a try though whether the CD5500 will recognise the commands is something I cannot check. Maybe Graham knows?

I would say yes if it was a Beocord 5500.

The Beocenter has DataLink, and I think you can control the CD5500 with A.TAPE2 if you plug it into Tape2.

If one were to connect the 2 together would the CD5500 be remote controllable via a Beolink1000? (CD on 9000 has gone west)
