Hi Puncher and Steve,

Thanks for your input .. .well I wanted to move the connection (currently on TP2) for a Panasonic LCD which is used to watch TV and which also feeds the DVD player to play DVD/CDs to the system...

Well I guess I'll give it a whirl and will definitely let you know how it goes... Will be in a few weeks before I can get to it though.

I agree with Puncher - this device is probably worth a try. If these prove to be popular, I may start making them myself!

I get more enquiries from people wanting to add a turntable to a new system without a built-in RIAA amp, rather than wanting to add a line input via a phono connection, but I'm always interested to find out what type of equipment you want to connect to your B&O system! Please let me know how you get on with this adapter, I will be interested to hear your views.

It seems the device you've highlighted is built to do exaclty what you need although I would still see it as a workaround rather than an ideal solution.

At that price I would buy and try - if you're happy with the results then carry on

Thanks, altho I'm currently connected through both TP inputs, so it was really that I was trying to find out if the PH input is possible at all .

So if i want to connect to the PH is this possible using something like the item in the link below (sorry its very long) to the product I refered to earlier in my post... It apparently allows you to connect to the phono input. Not having any knowledge on this sort of thing I was wondering if this will actually work .... And more importantly was hoping to be able to get it from somewhere where the quality is more assured. I have tried to search but no luck as yet.

Yes, you can make an iPod work through the Phono input via the RIAA amplifier/equalisation, but it won't sound good. Why not? Because the RIAA section alters the balance to suit records, which will mess up the sound of the iPod.

Basically, you can connect this way (turn the volume down low on the iPod) to "get you by" for a while, but it is much better to either remove the RIAA section in the Beomaster 6000 or use a Tape input (if one is spare).

aha! the remote has no TP2!

well, as puncher pointed out...

the PH connectors will have the riaa on them -i don't think this will work...but!!!

i have used TP1/2 for an ipod and 8004 but have never tried to connect anything but a 'gram to the PH, so i will recuse myself at this point and see how it goes...

of course, you could always disable the riaa in the bm if you don't plan on using a bg! -uggh!

... well, currently I have an Ipod connected to the TP1 and TP2 has the TV / DVD connected to it... So, what I wanted to actually do is move the TV/DVD to the PH input so I can select between sources using the remote... So would this work ... as I mentioned earlier I thought the inputs / etc were maginetised and or more sensitive for the PH input...

No - because the BM6000 phono Din/RCA inputs have the RIAA amp/compensation built in. This means that the input level is very low (millivolts rather than volts) and the frequency response will be distorted by the RIAA equalisation.

as i understand it -if not using a bg6000 or similar -you can plug into the PH din using an adapator or straight in the rca inputs, BUT not both at the same time... perhaps the T2 (which is all rca) may be better for what you are trying to attach -which is?
