First of all a big thanks to Lee for investing so much time and effort in this forum. I have been following several threads.

I found the interview to be to the point and the answers rather positive. I hope B&O will revive under his leadership.

Just like any piece of modern equipment, it takes software to run the hardware. It's an unavoidable fact and the longevity of the hardware will depend on how far it can be pushed with the software. So in all, I feel more comfortable in what Mr. Nielsen said and I am curious to see the first real products developed under his leadership.

also depends who they employ , the ones in india didnt work like bank call centres.

As one beoworld member who is in the software business said, because of language problems you have to get back to them about 3 times for each point

i agree with peter's sentiments , bno should be aboot the best av hardware , leave the software to the big boys and just write bno plug ins for stuff like itunes etc
from what i've seen so far , bno software leaves a lot to be desired , while their best hardware , beolab 5 , beovision 7 & 9 still look , feel and work brilliantly
the day they go 99% sw is the day i buy a samsung

I totally agree, Flappo. But just want to point out that there is software in the BL5s, for instance - and that Digital Signal Processing is a function of hardware and software interaction.

As I've pointed out here repeatedly, there's no way any A/V manufacturer can compete with the software development going on through Open Source or in particular OSs, such as Apple's. But they can integrate solutions into their distinct hardware - I'm not entirely on board with the "hardware will be commoditised" statement ...

Software is many things.

Apple has interactivity figured out to a T, but they don't care about true audio quality.

B&O could own that. Software also means the Digital Processing required to run multi-channel through acoustic lens loudspeakers, for instance. Imagine if you could have the sweetspot follow you as you move about your room, for instance!

I'm in the lucky situation of having BL5 fronts and BL3 rears -- visitors can't believe what I'm hearing through my processors. When B&O catch on to that, they have a winning proposition.

Very interesting! I especially liked the BeoCenter 8500 episode. He seems to be a very nice and open-minded man.

Clearly cards close to chest, but the intimation of long life products and upgrading possibilities should please many. The switch to software worries me a little as I cannot see B&O competing with Apple who have so much more budget and develop products so quickly and cheaply. They also however have a pattern of continual upgrades - I am writing this on a computer that must be well over 4 years old yet has the most modern OS and works perfectly.

For me he got pretty much to the essence already in his first answer. He was honest, and it's nice to see such a young guy in charge, too. Thumbs up wishing him well in this tough job and tough times.

Nice to see that B&O are so Beoworld aware, and take on board our thoughts, both positive and negative.

I hope that wasn't that mammoth sw 4.24 on the BV7 thread! Mind you, he says times are changing - perhaps they mean with sw it's so easy to upset your customers? Anyone else with any ideas?

We wanted to signal to dealers that maybe we have been a little arrogant in our attitude and want to listen to people rather than neglect feedback we have been given. This is very important for our future!"
