And considering inflation and all, and the quality you get. It is actually reasonable.

Regarding that article. I think Blu-ray is here to stay, like a replacement for DVDs. They just have to fix the glitches in their machines and it will be alright. Blu-ray has gained tremendous acceptance if you compare it with other HD formats. And HD downloadeables? Give me a break. Just which internet connection will allow us to download an HD film in an hr? The provider will need to have some massive high speed server to be able to feed us that fast which will cost a lot. Take this for instance the 24bit downloads from Linn is like $24 and that is quite a lot of money for a download and why is Apple only offering compressed formats? Internet bandwidth is very expensive. And not to mention the fact that PS3 games use Blu-ray so it is gonna be here for quite some time.

BTW. If you read that article closely enough. Up-sampling DVD player? Are we talking about audiophile cd players now? It's up-scaling.... yeah the right term is up-scaling. Jeez. What a useless article. Next!

Interesting Blu-ray observation

From ZDnet:

http://blogs.zdnet.com/storage/?p=365&tag=nl.e550

I've always said that Blu-ray discs are way overpriced and they are priced that way for a reason. Transformers was on offer for £15 at HMV the other day, when the SD-DVD was only £5. Same with many other DVDs.
