Geoff,

Sorry, but I left out a couple of "Type" numbers. You should also include in the list 338X and 339X

As your software level is version 1.1, this will need to be upgraed to version 2.0 or 2.1

With regards to the STB-C, there is a software version and a table version and it depends what table version you have installed.

Thanks for all of your recent contributions. I have checked the type number on the label at the back and it is a 33/96 model. That doesn’t seem to correspond with the list of STB-C compatible models that you listed Keith. The label also shows SW 1.1 which is the same as comes up in the service menu, so I presume that there must have been a number of upgrades after that. According to the Beoworld codelist1, I should be able to get the MX to communicate with a STRONG SRT5300 box which I have access to. At the moment the two units refuse to talk but I’ll work on it. Next week I will try to find out what is involved in a software upgrade and decide whether it is worth doing it or not.

Transmitter cable will be the same.

As for the software, it's the same eprom as the avant, beosystem 2, bv5 etc so you should be able to upgrade to the latest stb's no problem.

The following MX "Type" numbers can have a STB-C in them, but the TV software may need to be updated.

TYPE numbers 782X, 783X, 785X, 786X, 788X, 789X, 780X, 781X, 787X, 870X, 871X, 872X

As far as I am aware the current IR transmitter cable has not changed.

I would never have thought that a unit this old would have had a set top box controller. I don't suppose that the software would allow it to control any of the modern day boxes but I'll make some enquiries at my local agent all the same, just to see what sort of software upgrades are still available. My recent purchases of the HDR1 and BV7 both came with a STB control lead which I have never used. Do you know if this is the same type of lead that was used with the MX7000?

Thanks for putting me on the right track, I'll be interested to see if I can get this feature to work properly once again.

Hi everyone,

I have recently acquired an old MX7000 which actually works surprisingly well and presents a very good picture at least the equal to my later model MX7000. There are a number of differences between the two models that I have sorted out but there is one thing that I cannot work out. In the small aerial panel at the back, the coax connection seems to have a mate in the form of a small jackplug or something like that. Has anyone any clue what this could be. I have attached a photo to give some idea of what it looks like. I would like to know if it is a standard B&O fitting and what it does. Otherwise, someone might have put their own part in for some obscure reason. Any ideas are welcome.
