Ordinary ML has a blanking strip (grey) inside covering space for 4 extra wires. If you look at an ML plug you will see what I mean. I think they designed it like this for possible future expansion but then never bothered and as far as I know, the AV9000 is the only system to ever utilise the extra cables. Not sure where you might find a wiring diagram however? Master Panel AV9000 service book perhaps?

I will see if I can find it anywhere for you.

Re: Masterlink cable

Thanks guys - but I'd seen that diagram. What I was trying to establish is whether that is the "normal" diagram, or the "AV9000" diagram. I also don't want to go and buy an normal cable if I need a special AV9000 one.

Where I'm trying to get to is to work out what I need to do in order to make an AV9000 audio kit work with an Avant. I suspect that it's just a matter of implementing the right power supply. Unfortunately, I can't find a service manual for either an AV9000 or the audio kit on beoworld.

Of course it's possible that there's a bigger problem than just the power supply, but I won't know until I try...

Mark

Re: Masterlink cable

THIS should help you Mark.

Re: Masterlink cable

Both the pink and the blue are usually wired in a masterlink as far as I recall - I'm pretty sure actually - but whether they are used normally or not I don't know. However, the BeoTech minisite just shows a single MasterLink pinout. Would I be correct in thinking that the AV9000 uses pins 11 and 12 to power the Audio Kit, and that these pins are unused on other B&O equipment? Alternatively, is the MasterLink cable for the AV9000 different to a normal MasterLink cable?

Mark
