It is very easy to melt the voice coils.

Easiest way to check is to disconnect them and measure their resistance. I was wondering how well BL8ks are protected against to high soundlevels. I have got my speakers connected to a AudioLab PreAmp. Yesterday my girlfriend pulled out the cinchcable from the Amp to my speakers and a really loud and bad sound came out of my speakers for about 10 seconds, it sounded like they were breaking down. After 10 seconds I managed to get to the speakers and pulled the power off.

When I connected everything again I think the speakers did not sound as brilliant as they did before. I know for sure that all drivers are still working (4*bass and 2* tweeters). Is it possible that somehow the speakers got damaged?

Thank you very much in advance for your response

best regards Nes
