Sorry for wasting everyone's time.

Basically, I checked and only my two existing handsets were registered to the base. I removed one of these and tried to re-register it and it wouldn't and was asking for the PIN code again. So then I started to panic and thought I'd screwed up my system, but as a last option I tried a couple of my favourite 4 digit codes instead of the factory preset 0000....

Turns out that when I set up the system 5 or so years ago I set up a PIN code on by PSTN base and I didn't remember. Didn't write it down on the instructions or anything. What a fool I am!

Anyway, it's been really interesting reading all the posts on here. I must have a think about my next B&O purchase now. I have my eye on a Beosound 3200, or should I get a BeoSound 4? Better start saving.

Best wishes to you all.

John

Re: BeoCom 6000 Mk 1 handset registration problems

Hi John,

is your PSTN compatible with your MK1 handsets?

There are 2 versions for the MK2 THIS & THIS, the MK1 handsets use the brushed aluminium combined pyramid base/charger.

Chris.

Re: BeoCom 6000 Mk 1 handset registration problems

Hi Andy,

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately I'm at work at the moment so I can't play with my toys!

I bought the PSTN base brand new and it has never had more than 2 handsets registered to it. I don't know about the secondhand handset that I have bought. Perhaps if it was part of a multi-handset set-up this is causing the problem, but then I would have expected the handset reset to sort this problem.

I'll let you know how I get on.

John

Re: BeoCom 6000 Mk 1 handset registration problems

Hi John and a warm welcome to Beoworld.
It could well be that there are other handsets registered to this base from times gone by.
I would recommend removing all handsets except the one you use to do it, then add them all again.
As far as I remember, a Mark 1 will only ask for a PIN if it has reached its maximum of six handsets.
Powering down the base will not lose your numbers, but it is not necessary.

Let us know how you get on.

Andy T.

BeoCom 6000 Mk 1 handset registration problems

Hi there, I'm new around here and I'm hoping someone can help with a problem I'm having with my BeoCom 6000 system. I know there are some similar posts on here already, but I thought I'd give all the info about my specific situation.

I have had a system with two handsets working fine for five or six years with a connection to a PSTN base. I have recently decided to add another handset to the system and decided that the easiest way was to get another Mk 1 handset via ebay. When I received it I charged it up and switched it on and realised there were numbers stored on the phone, so I did a handset reset by presssing DOT 7 0 0 0 9 and now I can't get the handset to register to the PSTN base.

I have been switching the base off for a few mintues, then pressing the button on the back so that it's open for registration of handsets and then switching the handset on and it just says NOT REGISTERED. When I go through the menu it finds the right base, but when I select it it asks for the PIN code (which I'm assuming is 0000), but then I get REGISTRATION ERROR. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I obviously have a lot of numbers stored so I am reluctant to reset the whole system, plus I am worried that I will generally mess up the current setup and I won't have any working handsets! If I power down the base for a while will it lose all the numbers stored?

If anyone can help me in any way I would be most grateful.

Very best wishes to you all,

John
