Thanks John, I was thinking of getting a Beolit some time ago for the Kitchen. This is what put me off, as the station I listen to the most is above 104. At the time I thought it was all models that went to 104, but later found out it was just some of them. There is a least one model of Beomaster which only goes to 104 too. Can't remeber which, even though I had one.

Not even that far on some:

600 (1960s) goes to 100

609 to 100

600 (1970s goes to 104)

800 goes to 108, but is older than the 1970s 600!

Just run around the house checking my collection!

Am I correct in saying that on some Beolit models the FM scale only goes up to 104 mhz.

A little Danish radio and tv store called Bremdal Radio (it's actually located in Struer) had some made a few years ago. I bought a couple from them. The top is not exactly as the original but in my opinion it will do.

I think the price was like 13,5 € or so.

For those fans of Beolits, I am scanning a whole lot of service manuals for these. Will be on over the next day or so.

To use the Beolit 1000 as an amplifier, attach the source to the Aux input and then press the P2 and P3 together. To utilise the external speaker, plug the speaker in the speaker socket with the pin facing to the rear. This will allow the speaker to work from the battery and can draw up to 2.5W. The internal speaker will switch off. If the Beolit 1000 is attached to a 7.5V source, the speaker can be attached with the pin at the front , in which case 7.5W will be available. The internal speaker will also still work when used in this way.

That is only on the FM only 400, 500 and 505 models though. The 600, 700 and 707 use the ball bearing and magnet tuning scale with no presets.

That won't be me then. I have a 600!

Hi John,

yes, the perspex slider has a light groove in it in the slots of the frequency scale there are little plastic pimples which move along. When the perspex slider hits one of these it comes to a stop where you left it and hopefully the radio station you had wanted to save.

Does that make sense? I'll try and do a picture when I get the chance.

Hi Kevin

When you talk abour presets, do you mean on the Beolit 600/500/700/707 series? I don't have my 600 in front of me, so could you explain how this works as I don't understand (therefore highlighting the fact that a FAQ on the Beolits is a good idea!)?
